Antique wardrobe. Painted in ‘graphite’, a very dark grey. And then decorated all over with decoupage. The decoupage consists of antique still life oil paintings by Flemish painters who lived around the 17th century . The flowers have been sized and layered in a collage effect. The decoupage has been made by myself and has been printed in fade-resistant ink designed to last up to 100 years before any fading occurs. Then I have painted over the top to blend all of the components together. The text reads, in the teal of the undercoat ‘the world was to me a secret’, a quote from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The decoration extends over the sides.

Distressed all over to reveal glimpses of the undercoat and back to wood in some areas to age it. I paint thickly, with texture and dribbles to create the feel of a genuinely aged bohemian piece that retains the spirit of the furniture.

Finally varnished with a floor varnish to provide a durable finish.

This is an Antique refurbished piece and will have life marks. It is sturdy and structurally sound. Constructed of high quality veneer which is fairly lightweight. The door latched securely. The inside is a little scruffy in places but good and clean. No woodworm past or present. Some vintage labels on the shelves still remain. There are a range of hanging options, a bar, hooks and smaller hanging rails so you can hang items facing you rather than perpendicular. The mirror has quite a lot of clouding, scratches and blemishes but I think this lends itself nicely to the overall finish. The latch works very well and has a lovely rusty aged patina.

Dimensions:

Width (at top) 117cm

Depth 43cm

Height 194cm
