The decoupage consists of a seascape painted by Monet and a vintage rose image taken from a rose catalogue. The decoupage has been made by myself and has been printed in fade-resistant ink designed to last up to 100 years before any fading occurs. Then painted over the top to blend all of the components together. The text reads; ‘listen, the earth is singing’ in the colours of the undercoat.
Distressed all over to reveal glimpses of the undercoat and back to wood in some areas to age it. I paint thickly, with texture to create the feel of a genuinely aged bohemian piece that retains the spirit of the furniture.
Finally varnished with a floor varnish to provide a durable finish.
This is a refurbished, antique piece and so has have life marks, dinks, knocks etc. She is sturdy and sound. The drawers slide well. The doors latch. The insides are good and clean with no odour and no woodworm. The top drawer was felted and I have removed the felt and painted the interior, it’s a little lumpy where the glue was. The overall is construction is high quality, lightweight veneer, made by CWS Ltd. The original handles remain with a lovely patina. The insides of the cupboards have a removeable shelf.
