Painted in thick layers of Annie Sloan chalk paint (I always sand items prior to painting to ensure the paint adheres nicely.) The decoration features an antique rose illustration taken from a cigarette card. The decoupage has been made by myself and printed in fade-resistant ink designed to last up to 100 years before any fading occurs. I have then hand-painted over the top to blend all of the components together in thick, textured layers and dribbles. The paint finish has been distressed, back to wood in some places and to reveal the teal green undercoat. I aim to create the feel of a genuinely aged bohemian piece. The text reads, in the undercoat ‘the whole world is a garden’ which is a quote from ‘The Secret Garden’.
The chair seat has been replaced with thick ply and is similarly decorated and sturdy and sound.
Finally varnished with a floor varnish to provide a durable finish.
This is an Antique refurbished piece, it wasn't originally a set and I have sourced the table, mirror and chair separatelyand though sturdy and sound, It may have life marks, dinks, knocks etc. The drawers slide smoothly. The original handles remain with a lovely aged patina. No woodworm. The insides are good and clean, no odour. The mirror's tilting mechanism has gone but it can be easily propped. The silvering of the mirror has a few marks and nibbling round the edges but is in very good condition.
