Painted in thick layers of paint (I always sand items prior to painting to ensure the paint adheres nicely.) The decoration features an antique illustration of Cosmos from a Victorian seed packet. The decoupage has been made by myself and printed in fade-resistant ink designed to last up to 100 years before any fading occurs. I have then hand-painted over the top to blend all of the components together in thick, textured layers. The paint finish has been distressed, back to wood in some places and to reveal the pink and green undercoats. I aim to create the feel of a genuinely aged bohemian piece. The text reads, in the undercoat ‘be glad of every day’.
The chair seat has been replaced with planks of wood and is similarly decorated and sturdy and sound with no wobbles or creaks.
Finally varnished with a floor varnish to provide a durable finish.
This is an Antique refurbished piece and though sturdy and sound, It may have life marks, dinks, knocks etc. The drawers slide smoothly. The original handles remain with a lovely aged patina. No woodworm. The insides are good and clean, no odour and are painted navy blue. The mirror's tilting mechanism has gone but it can be easily propped and the outer mirrors tilt in and out. The silvering of the mirrors have a few little marks and misting but they are in very good condition for their age.
