Floral Moon Panel

£195.00

Price includes UK Delivery via Parcelforce. It will be sent packaged against a slightly larger ply panel to protect it from the enthusiastic attentions of the courier.

Upcycled vintage cupboard door, now art for the wall! This was taken from a linen press that was too structurally damaged to save. The key hole is still present and the construction is mahogany veneer.

Painted in thick layers of paint. The image is a collage of a 17th century still-life oil painting and a vintage moon illustration which have been printed, by myself, in fade resistant ink. Applied using the decoupage technique. I have then painted across the top in very thick, textured layers and then distressed this, in some areas back to wood and to reveal the orange undercoat. The text reads in the colours of the undercoat and oranges and is a line taken from the Robert Frost poem ‘Going For Water’. I have added the film poem at the bottom. Finished with hand-cut white paper stars and then varnished. This can be dusted with a lightly dampened cloth.

The panel comes with a wire on the back so it's ready to hang on the wall.

DIMENSIONS:

59cm long, 130cm high, 2.5cm thick.

Going For Water by Robert Frost

The well was dry beside the door,

And so we went with pail and can

Across the fields behind the house

To seek the brook if still it ran;

Not loth to have excuse to go,

Because the autumn eve was fair

(Though chill), because the fields were ours,

And by the brook our woods were there.

We ran as if to meet the moon

That slowly dawned behind the trees,

The barren boughs without the leaves,

Without the birds, without the breeze.

But once within the wood, we paused

Like gnomes that hid us from the moon,

Ready to run to hiding new

With laughter when she found us soon.

Each laid on other a staying hand

To listen ere we dared to look,

And in the hush we joined to make

We heard, we knew we heard the brook.

A note as from a single place,

A slender tinkling fall that made

Now drops that floated on the pool

Like pearls, and now a silver blade.
